CTDOT Route 113 Update

AN UPDATE FROM CTDOT - JULY 22, 2025

The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has received final approvals from the FAA and the airport to begin repair work on the Route 113 (Burma Road) sinkhole starting Wednesday, July 23.

The FAA has finalized the plan in which a 150ft crane will assist first in the bypass operation and then in sealing the area around the damaged area for repair.

Preparatory work has already been done on the road, including surveying and bringing in equipment and materials, but these actions do not require the larger crane. A smaller 60 ft crane has been utilized to this point.

While there is no projected completion date yet, this is a State-owned road, and I, along with our Director of Public Safety and our State delegation, have been in constant communication with CTDOT to emphasize the urgent need for a safe and efficient repair.
