STRATFORD, Conn. – A Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Fairfield County starting today, Friday, December 26, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Snow is expected to begin late Friday afternoon and very quickly pick up from light to very heavy between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Roads will quickly become snow covered. Snowfall rates could exceed 2 inches per hour at times this evening. Any slight change in the track of the storm could significantly change the forecast. Based on a blend of the major model forecasts, total accumulation for our region is estimated between 8 and 12 inches. The following notices are issued:
PARKING BAN
In anticipation of inclement winter weather and to facilitate snow removal, a Parking Ban in Stratford will be in effect beginning 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon, December 26, until 11:59 p.m. on Saturday, December 27. Residents should park on the even-numbered side of the street. If possible and practical, residents are asked to move cars off the street.
TOWN OFFICE SCHEDULES
At this time all Town offices are scheduled to remain open as regularly scheduled.
TRASH COLLECTION
At this time all trash collection will take place as regularly scheduled.
POWER OUTAGES
Should you experience a power outage, be sure to report it to United Illuminating at uinet.com or 800-722-5584. Individuals with medical devices, such as oxygen, should contact their service providers today to ensure they have what they need during the storm.
WARMING CENTERS
The Town of Stratford has initiated its Warming Center protocol upon receiving a Cold Weather Advisory Notice from the State of Connecticut. This protocol is in effect through 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025.
