Thanksgiving Sanitation

There will be NO refuse, recycling or yard waste collection on Thursday, November 27, 2025 in observance of Thanksgiving Day. Thursday’s route will be picked up on Friday and Friday’s route will be collected on Saturday. The Transfer Station on Watson Boulevard will be CLOSED on Thursday, November 27, 2025.

The Transfer Station will be open on Friday, November 28, 2025 from 7:00am to 3:00pm and Saturday, November 29, 2025 from 8:00am to 12:00pm.

Residents are advised that as of September 2, 2024, they must use the newly issued 96- or 64-gallon containers. Only refuse or recycling contained in the new Town issued containers will be collected. Refuse or recycling left loose next to the containers WILL NOT be collected. This includes bags or cardboard. Also, paint, oil or any other liquid should not be placed in your refuse or recycling containers.

Plastic bags cannot be included in your recycling container. This includes the special recycling bags that are currently being sold. The bags get stuck in the sorting equipment at the recycling drop off center causing the entire truck load to be rejected as contaminated. We have been advised by the recycling drop off center not to accept plastic bags of any type from now on.

The collection of yard waste will be suspended for the season on December 22, 2025. That will be the last day of collection. The collection schedule during this period will remain the same with yard waste collection taking place the day after recycling collection. Yard waste collection will resume again in April. During the winter months residents may bring yard waste to the Transfer Station on Watson Boulevard. Residents are reminded that only grass, leaves in paper bags or cans, and branches no longer than 4’ and 1” in diameter tied in bundles or placed in the bags or cans will be collected with yard waste. Plastic bags, plastic planters, dirt and rocks will not be collected.
