Notary Public Services

·  There is a $5.00 fee for each notary service, (use of notary seal)

·  You will be asked to provide valid (not expired) photo identification

·  Please do not sign the document before having it notarized

 

Please note: We do not notarize the following documents

·  Wills or Living Wills

·  Power of Attorney documents

·  Any document that will be recorded on the Stratford Land Records

  

Recording Your Notary Public Appointment

Upon receiving the Certificate of Appointment, and before performing any notarial act, the notary must take an oath of office. The appointment and oath of office must be recorded within 30 days of having received it with the Town Clerk in the Town in which the notary resides. The Secretary of the State appoints each Notary Public for a term of five years.

Note: Documents being sent to certain countries may need the apostille or authentication of the Secretary of the State in addition to that of the Town Clerk.
