Special Discount Ticket Programs:
The Recreation Department will be selling discount movie tickets for Regal Cinemas. Tickets on sale now. Tickets are $7.50 each with a minimum of 4 tickets. The tickets are good for all shows except for the first 12 days of special runs. Help support the Department scholarship program.
Nature Walking Program
Come join Connecticut Master Wildlife Conservationist, David Wright, for informative spring and summer discovery walks, “Exploring Natural Stratford – Forest to Shore”. Walk Stratford’s shore and trails and see them as you have never seen them before. Get in shape while enjoying the great outdoors. Advanced Registration requested.

The mission of the Recreation Department is to provide quality, affordable recreational services to enable the entire community to utilize their leisure time, and to enhance the quality of life. We provide individuals with facilities and programs through which they have an opportunity for social interaction, to improve their physical conditioning, to develop new skills, and to enjoy safe, wholesome, and satisfying activities. We also establish cooperation with community and area agencies to complement, or supplement their services.
The Department reserves the picnic pavilions at Short Beach and Boothe Park as well as the Boothe Park Dining Hall.

The Stratford Recreation Department staff is certified in CPR and first aid.
All Recreation Department programs are open to everyone in Town. Any individuals with a disability who need special assistance to participate in the programs should contact the Recreation Office.
The Recreation Department accepts cash, checks, VISA and MasterCard and American Express.

GENERAL INFORMATION
Registration for programs must be made in advance of the first session. Program fees must accompany all registrations. All registration will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis until the maximum registration is reached. To be sure of a place in the program early registration is urged. In some cases, late registration will be accepted if space is still available; however, program fees are not pro-rated. Late registering persons must pay the full registration fee. There is a $5 non resident fee for classes which accept non residents. Programs may be canceled for insufficient enrollment. The Recreation Department staff has made every effort to keep this website up to date and accurate. However program listings/information may require that adjustments be made at the last minute to programs, fees, schedules etc. We apologize in advance for any errors or for any inconvenience these errors may cause.
Programs open to everyone
An individual(s) with a disability are welcome to enjoy the programs offered by the Department. Anyone who needs special assistance to participate in the programs should contact the Recreation Department.
OnLine Registration
Participants may register for most programs by email. You must have a user id and password to use the online registration program. Please call the Recreation Office to obtain your user id and password.
Photo Policy
Any photographs taken of any participants of the Stratford Recreation Department programs or activities may be used for publications or advertising materials such as brochures and flyers. Any participant not wishing to have a photograph of them must inform the Recreation Dept at registration.
Medical Insurance Policy
The Town of Stratford is self-insured and does not carry accident insurance for participants. Personal health insurance is recommended. All participants must sign the waiver form before participating in our programs. For those under 18 a parental is required. Please make the staff aware of any allergies or medical conditions at registration.
Scholarships
The Department offers family rates for multiple classes, 2nd and 3rd child discounts and scholarships for some programs. Scholarships for adults are also available. A Scholarship Form may be obtained at the Recreation Dept office and must be returned by May 11 for summer camps or at least 4 weeks prior to the start of the program. Your latest Income Tax Return must accompany your application.
Stratford Recreation Department is a Care For Kids program provider.
Senior Citizens Discount for those 62 and older is 50% for most programs.
Cancellation Policy
Recreation Department programs are no longer automatically canceled when schools are closed. A decision on programs will be made by 4:00 p.m. Listen to WICC or watch WTNH for cancelations or call the Recreation Department 385-4129 after 4:00 p.m.

Refund Policy
The Recreation Department will refund money only when:
- The department cancels the class
- A medical excuse is obtained
- The participant has taken only the first class and informs dept immediately they are withdrawing.
- When a replacement is obtained
All other refunds will be pro rated plus a $10 administrative fee will be charged per program. There are no refunds for camps unless a replacement is found.
Cancelled Checks
Checks returned for insufficient funds will be charged a $15 fee. Payment must be made within 3 days of notification by cash, money order or credit card.
Job Opportunities
Applications are available for employment at the Human Resources Dept in Town Hall. Applicants must return their application to the Human Resouces Dept. Applicants should be Stratford residents and 18 years of age. The Department is always looking for qualified volunteers to officiate, umpire, teach swimming, or donate their expertise in any program.
