7:00 am to 7:30 p.m. | Golf ID’s are required for resident fees. Pull carts and clubs are available to rent. No one under the age of ten is allowed to play the course unless they have completed the Golf Foundation Lesson Program. Anyone 9-12 years old must be accompanied by an adult. All players must have their own clubs and bags. Everyone must wear soft spikes or sneakers. There are no exceptions. Daily Tee Times will end September 2. Weekend tee times will be accepted until October. Call for tee times beginning Monday at 10:00 am for up to 1 week in advance. Tee Time Reservation System Policy Revised July 2008 Golfers may make tee time reservations daily beginning Mondays at 10:00 am. Tee times will only be available on weekends. All names must be given to hold spots with a telephone number for 2 golfers. Golfers have until Thursday at 10:00 am to cancel without penalty. A twosome may sign up for a tee time and openings in a group will be filled whenever possible to make foursomes. Tee times can be held by a single player but openings will be filled to make a foursome. Groups must arrive 15 minutes before tee time. Failure to do so may result in losing your tee time. The office time is official time. When golfers are lined up to make reservations, the cashier will schedule tee times from 2 people in line and then will accept a reservation from someone on the phone. One tee time reservation per person per day and that person must be a member of the group for which the reservation is made. Please allow everyone the opportunity to play. If weather closes the course, all reservations are cancelled. If the course is closed for a period of time, all tee times during this period are cancelled although every effort will be made to schedule you once the course reopens. | Built in 1988, Short Beach Golf Course is a Scottish links style par 3 golf course constructed along the scenic Long Island Sound at the Mouth of the Housatonic River. It features large elevated greens and tees with many bunkers and 4 water hazards to challenge any golfer. | | | Motorized Golf Carts Carts are available for rent at $14 per cart with 2 people and $7 for 1 person. Pro shop Clubs, balls, tees, shirts, visors, and hats are for sale in the pro shop. Golf lessons are offered. Please call the pro shop for details. ID Hours Everyone must renew his or her ID. When the course is open. they will be issued daily. We will begin issuing the 2009 IDs October 1. Resident rates are applicable only with current ID. Fee for renewal is $5. Gift Certificates Gift certificates are available throughout the year during course hours. Please inquire with the golf course cashier. They are great gifts for any occasion. Golf Lessons Private golf lessons are available with Mike Gaffney. Please call the cashier at 381-2070 to sign up. Group Golf Lessons are offered on Wednesday nights beginning TBA from 6-7 pm. They are five one-hour lessons for $35. Registration is TBA at the Recreation Office. Golf Lessons - Indoor Lessons Lessons will be offered on Wednesdays from 6:00-7:00 pm at Birdseye Complex. Lessons will begin September 17 for 5 weeks with registration through September 12 at the Recreation Department. Ladies Golf League Meets every Tuesday morning at Short Beach beginning with registration in April from 9-11 a.m. at Short Beach. League play will begin April. Watch the bulletin board for the schedule. Men’s League The Men's League will begin its season in April at 8:00 am. Sign ups will take place in March from 9:00-12 noon at the Short Beach Golf Course. The fee is $35. Junior Golf League For ages 9-15, the league meets Monday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. for play on the course beginning July 9. The league is preceded by a First Tee Instructional 7 week program that will start April 24 & 25. See below. You should take the First Tee program before the league. The fee is $50. The league has limited space and is on a first come registration basis. Registration is held at the Recreation Office at Short Beach Park beginning March 5 or until the program is filled. Instructional Jr. Golf Program: A 7-week instructional clinic will be conducted on Tuesdays or Wednesdays beginning April 24 or 25. The clinic is in cooperation with the Connecticut Golf Foundation/First Tee of Connecticut. The fee is $7. The Clinics are Tuesdays from 4-5:30 pm for ages 7-11 and Wednesdays 4:00-5:30 pm for ages 12-15. Registration is held at the Recreation Office at Short Beach through April 20. The next session is June 26 & 27. A 7-week instructional clinic will be conducted during the summer for ages 6-10 and for ages 11-16. The fee is $7 for the Tuesday clinics. The Clinic begin in July. Registration is held at the Recreation Office at Short Beach beginning March 5- June 26 or until the program is filled. "Chip Shots" The course newsletter is available online or at cashier’s desk. It has all the latest information on league play, special contests, tournament dates and news about the course. Please pick one up at the cashier’s desk. Suggestion Box A suggestion box is waiting for your suggestions. It is located at the cashier’s desk. Please let us know of any suggestions. Any suggestions we use will be awarded a free round of golf. Let us know how we can improve. Stratford Open Golf Tournament Save the date a Saturday September 27 for the Town Championship. Co-sponsored by the Stratford Rotary Club, the tournament benefits a local non profit. Town championships are awarded in 4 categories: Juniors, Adults, Seniors and Ladies.
