The Stratford Health Department conducts routine inspections of all licensed hair salons, nail salons, and barbershops.  The inspections along with education help to protect the public from the many potential infections that exist.  Serious health risks are associated with getting a manicure and/or pedicure if proper precautions are ignored.  These health risks can include:

Viral Infections HIV Hepatitis B & C Warts

Bacterial Infections Staphylococcus Streptococcus Pseudomonas

Fungal Infections Athletes Foot Nail Fungus Yeast

Although health inspectors routinely inspect licensed hair and nail salons in town, we cannot guarantee safe practices are conducted at all times.  We encourage you to become a wise consumer when it comes to seeking these services.  Learn how to be a wise consumer!
