Computer Services
The mission of Computer Services is to provide continuous and additional information services capabilities to all departments, and to do so by using a variety of technological means in order to meet specific requirements.
The Computer Services department provides a technology foundation that allows Town employees and residents to access and share key information as well as to improve services to the residents of the community.
Because this foundation needs to be well thought out and planned to encompass the needs and requirements of the entire municipality, the Computer Services department is charged with administering the four-phase Technology Plan.
A few of the department directives are:
- Utilize proven technologies to implement LAN/WAN networks, applications and procedures that make information more accessible and easier to use.
- Provide access to the Internet/Intranet for internal access by Town employees. Provide residential/business Internet access to key information and Town services.
- Manage the core technology acquisitions for hardware and software while providing day-to-day troubleshooting expertise and technical support.
- Provide a structured on-going training program for town employees to maintain a proficient level of competency as technology regularly advances.
