The Department of Community/Economic Development welcomes you to our monthly update on economic activity in the Town of Stratford.

Commercial, industrial, retail and office permits for the month of January totaled $181,000.

The bidding process continues on the former Stratford Army Engine Plant. A soft anticipated closing of bids is planned between the 17th and the 19th of February. The Government Services Agency will post a 72-hour of notice that the bids will close at a specific time.

BJ’s Wholesale Club, located at the Dock Shopping Center, celebrated their Grand Opening on January 12 in their new 107,000 square feet facility occupying the location of the former Bradlee’s.

The Big Y World Class Market will celebrate their Grand Opening on Thursday, February 14 at 10:00 AM at the new Hawley Lane shopping complex. Big Y will serve as the anchor tenant at the complex that will bear the name of “North Town Center” and will be dedicated in the spring of this year.

The Greater Fairfield County Consolidated Multiple Listing Service has reported that 30 single-family homes were sold during the month on January. The average selling price of the homes was $328,733 and on the market for a period of 103 days. *

Several new businesses have been added to the Stratford to include “Bounce U” which is a unique concept providing high quality entertainment for children in a private party setting. DeLuca Industrial Supplies has relocated to Stratford from Stamford.
