The Office of Economic Development welcomes you to our monthly update on economic activity in the Town of Stratford.

• Commercial, industrial, retail and office permits for the month of April totaled $81,043. The total for the first four months of 2009 were $3,650,243.

• The Office of Economic Development will be representing the Town of Stratford at the 16th Business Showcase at Sacred Heart University sponsored by the surrounding area Chambers of Commerce on May 20 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

• North Town Center on Hawley Lane has just signed leases for Weight Watchers and a new staffing company.

• A new Italian restaurant may be heading into the former Ciao’s location in Stratford center to join Danny McCoy’s Irish Pub at the former Reality Café location.

• Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation has more than 9,200 employees at their Stratford headquarters and surrounding facilities and are the largest employer in Fairfield County

• The Greater Fairfield County Consolidated Listing Service has reported that through May 4, 17 single-family homes sold in Stratford during the month of April with an average selling price of $238,494 and were on the market for an average of 108 days. *

• The Office of Economic Development has established a working relationship with the Community Economic Development Fund to assist start up small businesses with financial and technical support.
