PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, National Flag Day is recognized for the week following the 14th Day of June each year. Whereas, the Second Continental Congress adopted the stars and stripes as our flag in 1777, our Flag remains a beacon of freedom wherever it is flown and has been our national symbol for 232 years; and
WHEREAS, Americans have flown the Flag to show their pride and appreciation for the freedoms they enjoy in this great nation. Whereas, the American Flag is a daily reminder of how the United States honors our men and women in uniform who are fighting for this highest honor; that of Freedom; and
WHEREAS, the American Flag graces not only the beautiful Government buildings throughout the world, but Government Buildings right here in this beautiful Town of Stratford, as well as schools, historical buildings and many of our neighbor hood homes; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby invite all neighbors of the Stratford community to join me in taking part in the honor of this great country by celebrating National Flag Day. May we hold this week in our hearts with silent pride to recognize the significance of this great nation and our right of freedom!
