PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Joseph J. LoSchiavo has announced his retirement after twenty-nine years of service to the Town of Stratford’s Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Joseph J. LoSchiavo joined the Town of Stratford Police Department in 1980 as a patrol officer, rising through the ranks from Patrol Officer to Deputy Chief; and
WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Joseph J. LoSchiavo has been actively involved in the community through his numerous positions held on boards of organizations including the Stratford Police Benevolent Association, Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), and the American Society of Scleroderma Research, where he is presently Co-Founder and President; and
WHEREAS, Since becoming Deputy Chief in 2006, Deputy Chief Joseph J. LoSchiavo has been responsible for preparing and administering the Department’s $10 million budget, supervising Police Captains in four major divisions within the Department, coordinating with outside agencies for multi-jurisdictional events, administering collective bargaining contracts, and negotiating and mediating labor and union issues; and
WHEREAS, In addition to being an instrumental part of the Stratford Police Department, Deputy Chief Joseph J. LoSchiavo has attended various seminars and classes to keep current with the changes in the area of public safety in order to provide the best police service possible to Stratford residents including Managing Civil Actions in Threat Incidents, Accident Investigation and Reconstruction, Human Relations, and DUI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Testing; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby invite all members of the community to join me in thanking Joseph J. LoSchiavo for his exemplary service to the Stratford community and in wishing him much happiness and health throughout his retirement.
