PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, Maury Johnson has been a resident of Oronoque Village in the Town of Stratford for 15 years; and,
WHEREAS, Maury Johnson has admirably volunteered his services to Oronoque Village undertaking varying activities and duties, not the least being his critical nine-year editorship of the Oronoque Villager which has kept the Oronoque Village community informed of important issues and local news; and,
WHEREAS, Maury Johnson has also distinguished himself as a 20-year volunteer for the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) where he became the AARP Chief Driver Safety Instructor in 2002. He was honored by the Connecticut AARP as Volunteer Leader of the Year in 2003, and was further recognized by the organization by receiving the coveted 2007 Andrus Award for Community Service; and,
WHEREAS, Maury Johnson has served the Town of Stratford’s Board of Education as a vital member of the Communication and Volunteerism committee, and was presented with the Friend of Education Award from the Stratford School System; and,
WHEREAS, Maury Johnson is Vice President of Quest Stratford, a non-partisan, non-profit educational corporation consisting of more than 600 Stratford residents who serve on many Boards and Committees to better Stratford; and,
WHEREAS, Maury Johnson has served the Town of Stratford as a dedicated member of the Economic Development Commission where his 27 years of experience as a marketing consultant for General Electric, his knowledge of the issues and his balanced judgment continue to serve the Commission well; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, James R. Miron, Mayor, do hereby invite all members of the community to join me in thanking Maury Johnson for his exemplary, dedicated service to the Stratford community
