08-20-07 The Stratford Mayor’s 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament was held on Monday, August 20, 2007. The Tournament, which raises funds for area non-profits, was held at Mill River Country Club, located at 4567 Main Street, in Stratford.  The tournaments have raised over $100,000 for local charitable organizations. Beneficiaries of this year’s tournament included Autism Speaks, ALS (American Society for Scleroderma Research), Disability Resource Center of Fairfield County, Emerge, Evergreen Network, The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation (pictured above), South End Community Center, Wounded Warrior Project, Protect Your Environment of Stratford, The Stratford Coalition for the Homeless, children’s programs offered by the Police Athletic League and the Stratford Library Association, animal advocacy organizations in Stratford, and Stratford’s public and private schools.

Mayor James R. Miron hosts the tournament as part of his commitment to raising public awareness for these charities through the Stratford Mayor’s Charity Events, Inc., a non-profit organization started by him. The foundation is staffed by an all-volunteer committee that works to improve the well being of the local community by supporting area non-profit organizations.
